From the cover: This book tells the history of the Kenya Regiment from its foundation in 1937 to its eventual disbandment in 1963.

Raised almost entirely from those who had settled in the country and made their lives there, the Regiment took part with great distinction in the Second World War and particularly in the campaign against the Italians in Abyssinia.

After the war the strength of the Regiment was scaled down but not for long, being re-formed in 1950. The Green Jackets were asked to provide the permanent staff and former members of the Regiment made up the majority of officers and NCOs. Since no suitable training areas were available in Kenya the Regiment sent most of its recruits to be trained in Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia, and it was fr…
