From the cover: In early 1939, when it was recognised that war was coming to Europe, recruiting of volunteers began for a new unit being formed in Northern Ireland. This was the 9th (Londonderry) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery (Supplementary Reserve), whose members served overseas for most of the Second World War. They were notable both for their high degree of skill and courage and for their enduring characteristics as an Irish unit.
