From the cover: This is the story of the 39 Castle Class corvettes which played such a vital role in countering the U-Boat threat luring the latter stages of the Battle of the Atlantic. From 11th December 1943 to 6th June 1945 they escorted 237 ocean convoys comprising 12,000 merchant ship ladings. Only ten merchant ships were lost by enemy action. They destroyed 7 U-boats for the loss of just 3 corvettes.
