From the cover: Jean (Hans) Arp, who was born in Strassburg in 1887 and died in 1966, was an astonishingly individual and versatile artist. A leading participant in the Dada movement, and later associated with the Surrealists, he soon evolved the personal style which he was henceforth to maintain, with remarkable consistency, in many types of work: collage, papiers dechires, tapestry, engraving, drawing and above all sculpture and poetry.
