From the cover: Marcus Clarke (b. 1846, d. 1881), the author of For the Term of his Natural Life, was born in England and emigrated to Australia in 1863, working on a sheep station before becoming a journalist and, afterwards, an editor. He wrote plays, short stories and essays as well as novels, but it is For the Term of his Natural Life that is regarded as his masterpiece, and as one of the most important Australian novels of the nineteenth century.
Good. A pleasant enough reading copy. Heavy reading creases to the spine. Wrappers lightly tanned and soiled. Edges of the text block lightly spotted. Pages gently age tanned.
